(Budgeting)

You are now ready to sale your story, or you may want to sale merchandise you created based on events, characters, or objects from your story." You may also want to abandon your story and start a new business idea, it’s up to you. In this pipeline we take our ideas in to the world of business while also learning the tools required to manage the process and the data. To begin this process we will learn a bit about Excel and budgeting.

Making a budget is pretty simple. But before I outline how to make a budget, I need to explain what I believe is the number one key concept in budgeting: A Budget is a Plan. "Budgeting" and "Planning" are synonymous.
"A budget is a plan for how you are going to spend your money"

A popular cliche applies here: "If You Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail". When you break your budget, you are messing up your plan. When you stick to a budget, you are sticking to a plan. Which one sounds more optimistic?

budget is often hated because people are always fighting against their budget. So what I want you to do when you "make a budget" is think of it and talk about it as a plan. Make a plan for how to spend your money and stick to your plan. I think this new point of view will help you be more optimistic, and it is certainly more empowering.

How to Make a Budget - 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Track your Income and Expenses
Step 2: Group Income and Expenses into Categories
Step 3: Make a Budget to "Live Within Your Means"

Remember that your budget is your plan for how you are going to make your expenses less than your income. So, after taking the first stab at creating your budget, look at the Monthly Budget Summary table. If your Total Expenses are greater than your Total Income, the Net will be negative. In accounting, a negative value is usually represented as a red number in parentheses. In these budget spreadsheets, red is not good.

When a script is ready to move to the next level, it is broken down into a budget. In other words, everything you think you would need to make the movie, animation, commercial, YouTube, or whatever; these things will be listed in your budget with how much you have (Total income) and how much it cost (Total Expenses)

It's now time to make a budget for our product! If you decide to create a film, remember that budgeting is an essential part of the filmmaking process. Anyone vaguely thinking of a career as a producer needs to know how to make a film budget. Since film budget software like Movie Magic Budgeting, Showbiz Budgeting, and EP Budgeting can run on the pricey side, we will create a film budget template using Excel.  If you are not making a film, you can use teh tutorial provided in this assignment and simply add your product or idea in place of the film.
