Introduction
~context~
(Creating, Sharing, Folders, and the Cloud)

Learning a better way...
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the concepts of C#.NET and coding concepts. However, far too often in courses such as these, you get deep into coding without understanding that code without context is something a robot does. Humans need some frame of reference to learn and to have a sense of direction. In the field of instructional design a famous American educational psychologist who is best known for his work, "Conditions of Learning", identifies five major categories of learning: verbal information, intellectual skills, cognitive strategies, motor skills and attitudes (Gagne, 1985). Using this time tested framework, I have structured the entire course around your overall cognitive development.

The following lessons are designed for you to have some context and to understand that coders must work with other applications, teams, APIs(Application programming interface), frameworks, libraries, and the list goes on. So we need to broaden our skills to manage an entire project and documentation. You are encouraged to test, experiment, explore, and have fun using C#.NET in the context of Storytelling while also widening our scope of coding!

What is Cloud Storage?
Now that we have our story from last week, we need to learn one of the most important things in any project, documentation and making it available to those that need access. There are many ways to do this, but one of the easiest ways is by utilizing a cloud drive like Media Fire, Google Drive, AWS, Azure, DropBox, OneDrive, or even Mega.

The traditional methods of storing data such as hard drives and pen drives or any other storage device have a lot of advantages associated. But once the storage device gets corrupted all the data stored gets lost. Hence the virtual cloud storage is a replica of the traditional storage devices where the users can store their data and keep their backup files on hardware and USB flash drives. Because Google Drive is integrated into Canvas, this may be the best choice for a cloud drive.

What is Discord?
Discord is a community-building platform that combines VoIP, instant messaging, and digital distribution. Users communicate in private conversations or as part of "servers" through voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media, and files. Servers are a collection of chat rooms and voice chat channels that remain active throughout time. This course uses Discord as a resource to connect students and instructors.

Prepare Our Environment For Success
Now it's time to start structuring our story into a document that our team can reference. Right now your team is one person (You), however, that may change in the future. The story is how every product, game, or company begins and is built on the back of a well-formatted document for those who are responsible.

Submission Requirements

The following steps must be completed to recieve the associated points for each step.
Any item marked with a * must be completed to recieve a score above 0.

01

Create a Group

  2. Make a document containing the group members' contact information

5 points

02

Create a Folder

  1. Type out an outline of the folder structure that the group agrees to use for the project
  2. Include the folders as shown in the resources area "Folder Structure Outline":

5 points

03

Create Excel Files

  1. Create a Google Sheets or Excel File
Add a Task List to the Google sheets or Excel document.
  2. Save the Task List to the Week 2 Folder

5 points

04

Create a Word Document

  1. Create a Google Docs, Word Document, or Alternative
Add an updated version of your story to teh new Document.
Save the Document to the "Week 2 folder"

5 Points

05

Submit Assignment to Canvas

  1. Submit a Shared Link to your folder to the Canvas.

*

06

Post to Discord

  1. Submit a Shared Link of your story to the discord server under P2P-collaborate named "the-beginning".

*

Notes

Sharable Links

  1. Make sure the folder is sharable to "all with a link". (see the tutorial in the resources area and the links in the study area)
If the folder is only sharable to those from SBVC, the file will not be accessible to me and will result in a 0 grade on the assignment.

Groups

  1. A group in this assignment is you. The one completing the assignment.
In the future, your group may include other students.
