This flexible hybrid education program is intended to give you the opportunity to balance work, family life, and other responsibilities among busy adult learners. To participate in this class, you must have access to an Internet connected computer with the appropriate software installed. Refer to the supported hardware list and the required software list. This course will be available on the first day of class through Canvas.
This course covers advanced programming using Visual Basic .NET with an emphasis on software development and maintenance. Topics include:
Applications developed can both be fun and provide the foundations for learning the subject.
Produce advanced VB.NET applications with graphical user interfaces (GUI) that incorporate GUI controls and handle events; along with developing VB.NET web applications. With knowledge of common software testing techniques, verify program correctness through the development of sound test plans and the implementation of comprehensive test cases using unit testing.
Construct web based and desktop based VB.NET applications with multiple modules solutions that utilize advanced Object Oriented Programming concepts, class hierarchies, inheritance, interfaces, and polymorphism to reuse existing design and code.
Create advanced VB.NET programming solutions for both desktop applications, and web applications that use built-in data structures or programmer defined data structures, MS SQL databases and existing libraries
All assignments must be turned in using the Canvas interface and/or as directed by requirements. Assignments that are submitted using any email account including SBVC email will not be accepted or graded.
This is a fully online course. To participate in this class you must have access to an internet connected computer with appropriate software installed. Refer to the supported hardware list and required software before you enroll in this course.
This course uses Discord as the main discussion forum. Learners are encouraged to seek assistance using Discord. Learners may also schedule a meeting time during office hours.
Please note that telephone calls are not routinely returned. e-mails and Discord will be checked and answered on an ongoing basis throughout the week.
To succeed in this class, it is the students' responsibility to obtain the necessary class materials (Windows-based computer, USB drive, and online access).
Students need to secure the much-needed time to read/practice/review all of the required assigned material
Approximately Six to Eight Hours per week of computer time is recommended for successful completion of course requirements.
This class is not independent study; there are timelines and there are due dates for your work; therefore, this class will require discipline on your part and proper time management.

Students are encouraged to note the course assignments and test dates on a calendar.
Students are responsible for saving completed work on their USB flash drive or cloud drive. However, all assignments must be submitted through Canvas to receive any points.
Periodically make a copy of the files saved on your USB flash drive to your personal computer hard drive and virtual drive.
It is the instructor’s right to drop any student with excessive absences. This means lack of assignments/tests’ submission and lack of course participation.
If you are unable to complete the course, it is YOUR responsibility to either drop the course online or get a drop card from the Admissions and Records Office. F or information Call 909-384-4401 to withdraw from the course. Failure to officially withdraw from this course will result in an F grade.
Failure to attend class meeting(s) or failure to submit initial assignments during the first week of the class will result in the student’s being dropped from the class.
After the first week of class, a student may be dropped if work assignments are routinely ignored and not submitted.
Students are expected to take responsibility for helping to create a quality classroom environment.

Disrespectful and rude behaviors are not accepted. Verbal/written drop warning will be given for first offense; thereafter, the student will be dropped from class.

If students help other students when needed, quizzes are automatically credited to your overall score. Pipeline games are designed to give learners other opportunities. None of the games, units, or extra items presented as a pipeline game or web portal are required to take or pass this course. No pipeline game participation is required or necessary to successfully complete or understand elements of this course.
